Glance Away, Then Stare

These artworks by Liverpool based multifaceted artist, illustrator and curator Sumuyya Khader were taken from her 2026 collection of works "Low Murmurs" first showcased at our united80 NOMAD pop up in June 2026. This particular piece was made as a diptych but can be purchased individually and has been made into an exclusive, limited edition A1 archival print in collaboration with united80.

It's a limited edition run of 20 pieces with an introductory price of £180.

"In the first panel, the figure turns away, profile offered, gaze withheld, the dark silhouette of the head set against a field of near-black. In the second, the figure faces forward confrontation with looking. Together the works stage the full arc of the viewing encounter: the glance that avoids, and the stare that finally commits. Stripping back detail until only the essential exchange remains the question of who is watching whom, and what that costs." -Sumuyya
